A professional shootout is not about how many laps you complete.
It’s about how thoroughly you are evaluated.
The RCA GT Summer Series Shootout is a 2.5-day intensive programme, designed to assess drivers continuously — on track, off track, and everywhere in between. From the moment you arrive, every interaction, session, and response contributes to the final evaluation.
Day 1 (Half Day): Arrival, Briefings & First Impressions
The shootout begins with a structured half-day onboarding.
Drivers arrive, register, and are welcomed by the RCA team, engineers, and key personnel. This opening phase includes:
-
Full programme and safety briefings
-
Clear explanation of evaluation criteria
-
Introduction to team members and assessors
-
Seat fittings and equipment checks
-
Group assignments
Drivers are divided into small evaluation groups, which they remain with throughout the shootout. These groups determine on-track rotation, off-track scheduling, and evaluation continuity.
Although no driving takes place on this first half day, evaluation is already underway. Punctuality, preparation, communication, focus, and professionalism are all being observed from the outset.
Days 2 & 3: Alternating On-Track and Off-Track Evaluation
The core of the shootout takes place across two full, action-packed days, with drivers rotating between on-track and off-track evaluation depending on group allocation.
Each driver completes:
-
One full on-track evaluation day
-
One full off-track evaluation day
Both days carry equal importance in the final selection.
On-Track Evaluation Day: Precision Under Pressure
On the on-track day, drivers complete multiple structured driving sessions, interspersed throughout the day rather than continuous running.
These sessions are designed to test:
-
Pace and consistency
-
Adaptability to feedback
-
Tyre and session management
-
Execution under limited track time
Between sessions, drivers move immediately into engineering debriefs, data and video analysis, and performance reviews. Engineers and RCA staff are closely assessing how drivers interpret information, apply changes, and improve session by session.
With track time shared, every run counts. The emphasis is on quality, learning speed, and professionalism, not volume of laps.
Off-Track Evaluation Day: Everything Else Teams Care About
When drivers are not scheduled to be on track, they complete a full programme of off-track assessment — and it is just as demanding.
Throughout the day, drivers rotate through:
-
Physical and fitness assessments
-
Media and presentation exercises
-
Interviews and camera sessions
-
Scenario-based evaluations
-
Ongoing observation of behaviour and professionalism
These elements are critical. The winning driver will go on to represent the RCA name, its partners, and the race team throughout the season, making off-track capability a key factor in selection.
Evaluation Never Switches Off
Across the full 2.5 days, evaluation is continuous.
RCA staff and partners are:
-
Observing behaviour in the garage and paddock
-
Monitoring communication with engineers and peers
-
Noting responses to pressure, fatigue, and setbacks
-
Discussing drivers collectively throughout the programme
Drivers are assessed holistically — not on a single lap, session, or interview.
Why This Structure Works
This format allows evaluators to see the complete driver.
It separates raw performance from preparation, execution, communication, fitness, and media readiness — the same combination required in professional motorsport.
Teams aren’t just asking: How fast are you?
They’re asking: Can we trust you to represent us?
A True Professional Environment
The RCA Shootout is designed to feel full, intense, and demanding — because that is the reality of professional racing.
Over 2.5 days, drivers are required to perform, adapt, communicate, and represent themselves at a professional level at all times. For those ready to step up, it offers one of the most realistic evaluations available.
